"HLP is one of my closest friends. She is always an encouragement in a time of need. She is also the funniest person I know."- Bailey Burns
What have you learned since serving in this position?

I've learned the importance of communication. By accurately letting people know what I need from them and listening to any feedback they have, you can get the job done well and it makes everything run smoothly!
Picture
What is your favorite part about serving as Panhellenic delegate?

My favorite part about serving in this position is seeing my sisters at philanthropy events! I love how Alpha Chi supports Greek organizations regardless of their letters. Every organization has such an incredible philanthropy and it's cool to see girls from all different organizations supporting each other.
Picture
What is your spirit animal?

According to a Facebook survey, my spirit animal is a chipmunk, so it must be true!
Picture
Why did you choose Alpha Chi?

I chose Alpha Chi because my big (who preffed me) made me feel more loved than I had anywhere else. Alpha Chi felt like home all week, and being preffed by someone who would soon become my big and one of my greatest friends was icing on the cake!
Picture
How have you changed since taking on this position?

Being Panhellenic delegate has forced me to become more organized and respond to things in a more timely manner. I used to be a big procrastinator, but I have now learned how to manage my time more efficiently.
Picture
What is your go-to song?

My go to song is "Even When It Hurts" by Hillsong. When I'm stressed about anything, it always manages to give me peace.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Patrick Swayze!

What has been your most rewarding experience at Auburn?

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to move in to the “Alpha Chi House” aka The Palace aka The Red Brick House with the Black Shutters with 5 girls in my pledge class. I think that has been the most rewarding thing for me because I wasn’t close at all with some of the girls before I moved in, but now I consider each of them some of my best friends. It’s been neat to watch the ups and downs (and bad moods) we’ve all, inevitably, had over the past two years and as we got to know each other and our lives more each of us has been able to help out another when theres been a break up, a parent issues, the loss of a family member, or even just those times when you feel pretty down. Also that one time (two weeks ago) we watched the entire Twilight Saga (still waiting to watch Breaking Dawn Part 2) and had group discussions on the themes and character analysis, that was pretty rewarding as well, I have to say. And Palace Island.

What has been your favorite memory of Alpha Chi?

I really don’t know if I can pinpoint just one memory but sophomore year as a whole sticks out to me. Living on the hall was one of the best decisions I’ve made at Auburn, as it gave me a chance to get to know a lot of the girls in my pledge class I might not have otherwise been able to, and also was a time where a lot of my closest friendships were really solidified. I’ve always been a huge fan of a good 5 mile long late night walk, so one of my favorite things to do would be to walk next door to someone’s room and see if they wanted to go walk and then before we knew it we’d walked a marathon around Auburn and talked about every topic from what our plans were going to be that weekend to what our beliefs were on predestination (you think I’m kidding).

Other than that, the things that stick out the most when I look back over the years are definitely going to away games (younger girls, go to as many as you can), taking spontaneous trips to the beach, and having our famous book clubs on Thursday nights, we read some good books let me tell you.

Who has impacted your life the most?

I really have been pretty blessed with the people who are in my life. I grew up with a really great family. At Auburn, though, I’ve been extremely blessed with some of the greatest people in the world as my friends. Honestly, I’m not sure I level up to them or deserve them a lot of the times, as I make a lot of bad jokes and they get “tired” or something, but I really do appreciate them.

What are your plans for after graduation?

Well, I have to do an internship over the summer so I’m not technically graduating until August, but unfortunately my time in Auburn is up in May. I’m really excited, though, because I will be spending my summer interning in Dublin, Ireland. After that, I’m not so sure what’s going to happen. Much to my mother’s dismay, if I ended up with a job after my internship I’d love to have the opportunity to live abroad for a couple of years so I can ~spread my wings and fly~. If not, I’ll probably look for jobs in D.C. (if anyone reading this has any connections to a job pertaining to healthcare in D.C. feel free to hit me up) (or really just any healthcare related job, my parents are hounding me) or another larger city.

What is one piece of advice you would give to freshmen?

I don’t know if they’ll be contradictory but I have a couple. Number one, take advantage of every opportunity you have. Everyone says it and its so cliche but before you know it you’ll be in your final couple of weeks at Auburn just wanting to turn back and start over (well maybe pick up after Freshman year, skipping recruitment and the whole “making friends” thing). And then number two, some of the best friendships you’ll make may be ones that take 2 or 3 years to develop and that’s okay. So take advantage but don’t rush into everything and think everything has to happen all at once.

Oh, also try to make your GPA as high as you can early on so that when you inevitably slack off later in college you don’t have to worry as much.

Also also, the boy you’re freaking out about right now probably won’t even be a blimp on your radar by the time you graduate so focus on the friendships that matter.

My favorite part about living on the hall is being able to know I can come home every day and someone is going to be there to talk about my day with me, go get food with me, or even do homework with me. I am a social gal so having that is so important to me.
